Miriam Haskell
Miriam Haskell , who started making jewelry
in the 1920's was known for her elaborate
filigree she purchased in France and Venice,
Italy. She had a unique vision as to what
her jewelry would be like from the very
beginning...
Nature...would be used as a reference for
these hand-made "pieces of art".
This passion for nature played out in a
multitude of designs...leaves, flowers,
and wonderful, little creatures.
Her nature theme extended to the use of
organic materials such as wood, shells, nuts...
In the late 1940's, the famous Haskell
filigrees started being designed...a lengthy
process of gold-plating, resulting in
an "antique gold finish".
The "Russian Gold-Plating" was a process
invented to work with the lighting in
films to reduce the glare...
These pieces in the Haskell Collection are
made from Haskell vintage 24K Russian
Gold-Plated Stampings from France.
They are very elegant...some designs are
more ornate than others...they are sure to
please the most discriminating of collectors.
